My studies in England. My travels throughout Europe.
Hopefully one of the places I get to visit during spring break! It looks absolutely serene…

The cute little tea shop we went to before  Nottingham. The amount of tea that the owner gave us was massive, so we each had five cups of delicious tea. Unfortunately though, that caused a few of us to search constantly for the ladies all day!

Nottingham; A Great One Day Vacation

This past weekend I took a day trip to Nottingham with my friends and it was absolutely incredible, and it was not only because the sun was shining without a cloud in the sky! It was just beautiful to see so much history in the city both old, Nottingham Castle, and new, Occupy World street. What appealed to me the most about the city though is the architecture. It ranged from 11th century buildings, to Victorian style homes, to modern glass buildings. The fact that England is able to perserve it’s historical architecture and mix it with modernism is just intriguing and leaves me in awe.

During this trip, I was actually visited the oldest pub in England called Trip to Jerusalem Inn, which was established in 1189 AD. It was absolutely amazing to be in the presence of so much history and that continued as we visited Nottingham Castle and the Crime and Punishment Museum. The Crime and Punishment museum was so interesting because we were able to walk through the prison cells, exercise block, and it was very interactive. I was scared though, because I was walking on soil that so many people got killed on and also were “tortured” on. It was a great experience to learn about the jail, but I couldn’t help to get an eerie feelings throughout the tour. Overall Nottingham is a beautiful city and I recommend it for a fun-filled day trip!

Beautiful City Center of Leicester!

British Slang

After being here for almost a few weeks, I have picked up a few British words and phrases that are quite interesting and amusing:

Welly- rainboots

Ladies- woman’s bathroom

To let- to rent

Socket- outlet

Courgette- zucchini

Cheers- say after everything

Ex: “Have a good day, cheers!”

“These chips are good! Cheers!”

This is fantastic! Today I bought 2 copies of Philosopher’s Stone. Neither looked like this unfortunately.
